Role Overview
The People & Culture Advisor will provide proactive guidance and support to managers and employees across the firm, ensuring the consistent application of HR policies and contributing to a positive and inclusive working environment. The role requires a confident and approachable individual who can build strong relationships at all levels, offering trusted advice while fostering a culture of openness and collaboration.
The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for HR related queries, helping to drive employee engagement and support the firm’s people strategy. Based at our offices in Maidstone, Kent but expected to travel across Brachers offices. Reporting to the People & Culture Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboarding and Off boarding: Oversee on-boarding and off-boarding, including inductions and exit interviews. Collaborate closely with the Talent Acquisition Team and People & Culture Administrator to ensure a seamless process.
- Integration: Ensure new joiners are supported consistently in their teams and review progress (alongside line managers) throughout a new joiner's probationary period, advising and supporting managers if any concerns are raised during probation.
- HR data and analytics: Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS. Ensure employee documentation is issued and maintained correctly and reflected in the HRIS for accurate payroll processing.
- People Policies: Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Employee relations: Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers HR queries. Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including absence, grievance, disciplinary, performance and capability.
- Flexible working: Manage flexible working requests and employee status changes including leave of absence.
- Training and development: Assess / monitor requests for training and development and collaborate with Lawfront Head of Talent Development to learning and development across the firm.
- Trainee Solicitors/ Apprentices: Assist with the recruitment of trainees including reviewing applications and working with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and People & Culture Administrator to coordinate and run assessment centres / interviews. Maintain responsibility for agreeing seat rotations, undertaking mid seat reviews and with trainees running feedback sessions with trainee supervisors.
- Problem solving: Liaise with the People & Culture Lead to proactively identify issues and concerns within teams regarding performance, attendance, absences exit interview feedback etc to ensure problems are addressed at an early stage.
- Project Work: Work closely with the wider group People & Culture Team and contribute to project work to achieve team objectives, sharing insights and best practices.
- Employee engagement: Be proactive in your support for initiatives to enhance employee engagement and well-being, promote diversity and inclusion, and strengthen a positive and supportive workplace culture.
Person Specification
- Min 3-5 years’ experience ideally gained within a legal environment or Professional Services
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and Best Practice
- A proven ability to manage HR issues with confidence and professionalism
- Organised, approachable, and solutions-focused
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional candidate experiences
- Able to build relationships to influence and advise at all levels
- Able to work with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Ideally CIPD Level 3 / 5 Qualified
